Tuesdays     Noon - 3 PM beginning June 10 at  Assumption Cultural Center (#54458)

Supplies needed

Paint:

Cadmium Red
Permanent Magenta (Quinacridone) or Permanent Alizarin Crimson
Ultramarine Blue (French Ultramarine)
Cerulean Blue, Thalo Blue or Cobalt Blue
Aureolin or Lemon Yellow
Cadmium Yelow light or medium
Burnt Sienna

Tubes are better than pans. Artist or student-grade paints from a good manufacturer: Winsor-Newton, Cotman, Sennelier, Lukas, Maimeriblu, Holbien, Schmincke, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Grumbacher, Daniel Smith, Cheap Joe's etc.

We will begin with this 7-color limited pallette to make color mixing easier--you can add other colors later in the semester if you wish.

  Brushes
3/4" - 1 1/2 " good quality flat paint brush (hardware store or artist supply)
#3 Round artist-quality Kolinsky sable or Taklon synthetic or synthetic/sable blend
#10 Round (same as above)
These are good to start. More brushes mean more flexibility, but wait and see which others you will like to try.

Flat and Round Watercolor Brushes
  Paper
12" x 16" Watercolor Block, 140 pound COLD PRESS cotton paper
Arches (best but most expensive) Canson, Cotman, Lana, Kilamanjaro, Waterford, Sennelier. If you cannot find Watercolor Blocks (sheets are bound together on the edges, so they do not have to be stretched and taped), watercolor pads are the second choice.

Watercolor Blocks
  Other Stuff
2 cans/jars for water
Palette for holding and mixing paint(more info in class)
Kleenex, Paper Towels or TP
Pencil
Eraser (kneaded eraser is best)
Ruler
Sponge
Old Toothbrush
Pocketknife
Drawing Board(if you opt for a watercolor pad rather than block--explained in class)
Masking Tape
Liquid Frisket--needed later in class
